Gutterfood of the Year 2010

2010 has been a good year for us - we avoided many gutterfood hence there were less posts, but that didn't mean we manage to avoid the worse gutterfoods out there.

This year, one stood out in particular as being the worstest Gutterfood of the year.

And the award goes to ... Esquire Kitchen Damansara Jaya!

Congratulations for being the worse eat of the year despite the strong competition.

Why Esquire? Well, you can see from this post as well as our other experiences that
- poor ingredient quality
- poorly cook dish
do make a completely shitbrix meal.

I am also disappointed in Esquire because you guys used to be good, then ok, then so-so, and now, shitbrix-inducing food. It really breaks my heart to see this.

Finally, Esquire, stop making those stupid fancy promotions on new products, and FIX UR GODDAMN BASIC DISHES FIRST!

That is why they sold to Hainan Chicken rice.

Esquire used to be "the" place to dine back in the early 90's. There was quality, there was a que, there was exceptional tasting food. I guess over time, everything just deteriorated to ground zero.

I was wondering how they can survive and then they are sold, a menu like nasi lemak or roti canai may not need improvement and preserve the quality is quite easy. So the problem is chef, like other professions, no increment.

OMG i went to this Esquire in Damansara Jaya Atria and all the staff are like super old and slow moving people.

Ha, you are right. Old is nostalgic ma, people so loyal and work over retirement age oso want to continue until they drop dead while serving.
Customer oso old what.

All old customers left for better food. Only the younger generations who dont know shit will eat here.

OUG there still got old customers, same as the worker ma, old friend liao. They may close shop after the old folks died.

the branch in sungai wang still decent though

No it is not. Sg Wang franchise is the worst among the lot. Their quality fared from 10 to 0 to -10 in over 5 year span. The only added surplus in dining at EK is the certificate of cleanliness which i think all outlets get the "Kebersihan A" cert.

It was more than 8 years since the last time I dine at EK, during it I was at McD right opposite them and saw enough through the years, why bother about them anyway, if not because of Hainan Chicken rice, I think they would have reduced their operation. So many cafe style restaurant opening but really don't worth the value so I'd rather go for fast food or nasi kandar where quality being maintained.

i frequent this place since 80's till now. every 2-3 months i will go once, various branches.

i still love the kungpo chicken, brinjal and double cook pork here, despite its ups and downs. i think many repeat customers also still visit for these few dishes.

if they dont maintain and protect these anchor dishes, they will surely die.
